Etruscan walks: The Etruscan Civilisation along the river Fiora

This is an introductory course to the history of the Etruscan civilisation involving trips to the most important sacred places. The participants will go for daily visits to the main archaeological sites at Sorano, Sovana and Pitigliano. Particular attention is drawn to the magical-sacred aspects of this enlightened culture. Students will be specifically guided through the rich and fascinating traces of the past that are everywhere in this region: the many necropolis, temples, sites of ancient towns, the roads, rocky artificial canyons, called "vie cave" built by Etruscans, etc. The relationship between the rocky and volcanic ecosystem of the Maremman hills will be located and examined.

COOKERY COURSES IN MAREMMA

In the kitchens of Antico Casale participants will learn how to prepare typical local foods, such as game, homemade pasta and sweets, mushrooms. Certain dishes as well as bread and pizza will be backed in a traditional wood-burning bread oven. During the holiday visits will be made to the many local olive presses, cheese producers, and wine cellars. The programme will vary according to the season.
Weekly programme - Mornings are dedicated to cookery and food preparation. Afternoons - visits to local producers together with guided tours of the surrounding countryside and archeological sites.
